Twitter is a popular hangout for geeks and techies, and you are almost guaranteed to find everyone from the layperson to mini-celebrities on Twitter. Here is a list of awesome web designers on Twitter worth following. Note that conversation value has been given importance (how active they are on Twitter, and how much of tweets is design-related).

Jonathan Snook: Designer, developer, writer and speakerJonathan Snook : Designer/developer

Snook is a well known and respected designer and developer. He has made a name for himself in the design and development world, and writes his blog, and is also part of Sidebar Creative, a design firm.

Veerle Pieters: DesignerVeerle Pieters: Designer

Veerle Pieters is another hotshot in the design world. Every word she writes on her blog is eagerly read by other designers, and she also runs a design firm called Duoh!

Eric Meyer: CSS GuruEric Meyer: CSS Guru

Eric Meyer is a CSS and web design guru, having written several books on the subject. He also writes a blog.

Chris Pearson, aka Pearsonified

Chris Pearson is a former freelance designer, now working on big projects and has also launched Thesis theme in association with Brian Clark. Also see his blog Pearsonified.

Collis Ta'eedCollis Ta’eed

Owns several popular blogs (PSDTuts, Freelance Switch etc.) and websites. Accomplished web entrepreneur and designer.

Ben BleikampBen Bleikamp

Ben Bleikamp is a designer, and shot into fame with his redesigns of Problogger and Four Hour Work Week. Until recently, he also worked part-time for b5Media blogging network.

David AireyDavid Airey

Popular logo designer and author of DavidAirey.com and Logo Design Love. David Airey, along with Michael Martin (below) are very direct, friendly folks in the design world. His blogs contains a very busy comments area, a testimony to his building a community around his blogs.

    @Jeremy: Aw, its sad that Ben doesn’t work for b5media anymore. As a fact, I did read on his blog that he’s employed full-time elsewhere.

  7. Nice list, Sumesh. I became a fan of Chris Pearson’s when I went looking for a new blog theme and ended up buying his Thesis WordPress Theme. Since then I’ve seen mention of several of the other designers on your list. Looks like I’ve got yet another reason to get on board this Twitter train. Thanks.
